EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Two parents in Evansville are charged with neglect after they refused to pick their child up from a hospital.
Amanda Osmon’s son, who is 13, was admitted to the hospital for a mental health check after she and the boy had gotten into a fight Saturday evening. Once that was done, no one came to pick him up.
A social worker called the boy’s stepfather, Jeffery Scheda, but he hung up.
When the worker finally got in touch with Osmon an hour after that, Osman told the social worker “I’m not dealing with this (expletive) now” and hung up. The worker noticed that Osman sounded intoxicated.
Police went to their home and both admitted to passing out drunk while their son was in the hospital. They also lied about the conversations they had with social workers throughout the ordeal.
