ICE Arrests 308 Illegal Immigrants On Trump’s First Full Day In Office

On President Donald Trump‘s first full day in office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out a sweeping operation, arresting 308 illegal immigrants across the country.

The coordinated effort, which spanned several states, marked the start of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, aiming to address what the administration deemed pressing threats to public safety.

ICE teams targeted known criminals, focusing on cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, Atlanta, Seattle, and Miami.

This nationwide initiative arrested individuals with diverse offenses, illustrating the administration’s intent to prioritize public safety.

Notable arrests included repeat offenders and individuals with histories of violent crimes.

Among those apprehended were a Haitian gang member in Boston, known for having over a dozen prior arrests, and a Venezuelan convict in Colorado, who was serving time for attempted murder.

Additionally, a Mexican national in Seattle was taken into custody after being convicted of sexual abuse of a minor.

These cases highlight the operation’s focus on individuals with serious criminal backgrounds.

Sanctuary cities, which limit cooperation between local authorities and federal immigration enforcement, were notably not spared in this operation.

ICE’s strategy involved targeting locations where local jurisdictions might otherwise protect illegal immigrants from deportation.

Border czar Tom Homan emphasized the agency’s commitment, stating that ICE would continue to pursue criminal aliens regardless of sanctuary city policies.

These arrests signal the beginning of President Trump’s broader agenda for stricter immigration enforcement.

ICE officials revealed a “target sheet” focused on the 700,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records residing in the U.S.

The administration also increased military presence at the southern border, deploying thousands of troops to support border security operations.

Homan described this as the first step in Trump’s promise to enforce immigration laws rigorously.

The administration has been clear that such efforts will continue to expand, despite opposition from sanctuary city leaders and immigration advocates.
