INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Anthony Richardon’s second season ended early.
Richardson was benched from the game against the New York Giants on December 29th because of his back injury. This means Richardson won’t be playing in the finale against the Jaguars either.
“It was a serious spasm injury,” Colts Head Coach Shane Steichen says in a press conference.
Steichen says he’s surprised that Richardson’s injury made him miss out on games, but he says he won’t be needing surgery.
“I don’t think it’s that severe,” Steichen says.
The Colts blew their chance to make it to the postseason after losing to the Giants last Sunday.
“It’s a frustrating season, as well all know. The ups and downs of it obviously didn’t go the way we wanted to. As a football team, missing the playoffs is the goal every year,” Steichen says.
Despite that, the Colts have one more chance to go out there as a football team and finish things the right way.
The Colts face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern. Quaterback Joe Flacco will start for the last time this season.
