MMA Trained Pastor Fights Off Church Burglar
This burglar picked the wrong church to mess with.
A pastor in California fought off an axe-toting burglar who broke into his church on Thanksgiving. Oh, did we mention the pastor is trained in mixed martial arts?! An angel and badass in one!
Pastor Nick Neves was woken up by his church’s security system going off in the early hours of Thanksgiving day. Neves went to check on the First Family Church in Antioch and was met with a man who had broken in a window with an axe.
The MMA fighter/pastor wrestled the man for about 15 minutes before he was able to take him down while waiting for police to arrive. The 46 year-old has a background in jiujitsu, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. He told NBC news, “I was able to pin him to the ground and he got up and try to get away several times. But basically just trying to wear him out because I knew I could outlast him.”
Like the angel he is, Pastor Neves wished the man would’ve surrendered instead noting the church would’ve taken care of him. “It’s just ironic, If he had come a couple of days earlier, he would have been blessed and get some food and be cared for. But he decided instead to smash windows and desecrate property and do something that’s going to hurt the ministries.”
The California church had a lot to be thankful for this year!
