Man Dresses in Bear Costume For Insurance Scam
File this under “BEST Legal Stuff” story of all time!
California officials say a local ‘bear attack’ was actually a person dressed in a costume for an insurance scam.
Four men in California are being charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy after police bust the group for staging a bear attack on their car.
The group of men reported that a bear had climbed into a Rolls Royce and damaged the interior. They submitted pictures of what appeared to be claw marks, scratches, and dents inside the car. However, when officials looked at the footage of the attack, detectives noticed the “bear’s” movements and mannerisms looked a little too.. human like.
Investigators’ suspicions were confirmed when they showed the footage to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. A staff member agreed it was “clearly a human in a bear suit.”
Fastforward and officials find themselves discovering a FULL BEAR suit on the group’s property along with a metal claw.
Okay, whose job was it to take out the bear costume?
The four men were of course arrested for insurance fraud, conspiracy, and what we can only assume, idiocracy.
