MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — A precinct committeeman in Madison County is now facing charges for theft and destroying or misplacing a ballot.
State Police believe Larry Savage was helping test a ballot card voting system on October 3rd. This was meant to ensure that voting equipment was working properly at the Madison County Government Center.
More than 130 ballots were from a “pre-audit group…marked to record a predetermined number of valid votes for each candidate and on each public question.” But, during the test, two apparently went missing.
Camera footage later indicated that Savage had taken them. In searching his home and car, officers say they found the missing ballots.
The man eventually turned himself in to the Madison County Jail.
