ALLEN COUNTY, Ind.–12 jurors and two alternate jurors have been selected in the Delphi murders trial.

They were selected on Monday in Allen County. Two alternate positions still need to be filled. The jury is composed of eight women and six men so far. Two of the selected jurors said they have police officers in their families. Several jurors were dismissed, including one who said he had psychic abilities. Another juror was dismissed after he told the court he did not like the color “green.”

Richard Allen is accused of killing Abby Williams and Libby German in Delphi back in 2017. The girls’ bodies were found near the Monon High Bridge.

Jury selection is supposed to last three days. The trial is planned to begin at the Carroll County Courthouse in Delphi on Friday.

Special Judge Fran Gull has set aside five weeks total for Allen’s trial, which includes this week. It is expected to last until November 15. The jury will be sequestered during that time. That means they won’t be able to use cell phones or watch news broadcasts. Once the jury is picked, they will be transported toe Carroll County, which is roughly 100 miles from Fort Wayne.

Allen says he’s innocent. He was arrested in October 2022. Prior to that, he was a pharmacy technician who lived in Delphi.
