INDIANAPOLIS—Starting November 1, 2024, AES Indiana will resume disconnections and late fees after a pause due to issues with a new billing system introduced in November 2023.

The system caused increased bills, unrecorded payments, and missing bills.

The utility paused these actions while addressing problems and responding to numerous complaints. With these issues resolved, AES will also switch to remote disconnection and reconnection procedures, notifying customers by phone, text, and email instead of requiring a site visit.
