STATEWIDE–Remnants of Hurricane Francine are supposed to bring rain to Indiana soon.

“We’re really mostly just looking at rain. We could see some thunderstorms on Friday. Currently we’re not expecting in the severe variety. Most of that should be south of Indiana, but we’ll continue to monitor that,” said Aaron Updike, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Southern Indiana could get some remnants as early as Thursday night. Several counties in southern and southwest Indiana are under burn bans because of how dry it has been in that area of the state lately.

“If you’re dragging trailers, make sure you are not having things drag across the ground that could cause sparks. Don’t burn things outside. Anything with fire concerns are things people should avoid for the time being,” said Updike.

Once the Francine remnants move out of Indiana, he doesn’t expect any impactful weather on the horizon.

“As for the temperatures, we will have them drop slightly. They’ll go back down into the 70s by Friday when the remnants move in,” said Updike.

He believes highs for most places in Indiana will stay in the low 80s throughout most of next week.
