(NASHVILLE, Ind.) — Former Hammond Representative Linda Lawson will be Woody Myers’ running mate in the race for governor.
Lawson served 10 terms in the House, and was briefly House minority leader after Democrats ousted Pat Bauer from the post in 2012. The former Hammond police captain retired to Brown County two years ago, but says in a written statement she’s “intrigued” by the opportunity to help with the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
Democrats extended their Tuesday deadline to select a candidate after Myers and party leaders failed to settle on a running mate.
Lawson will be formally nominated at Democrats’ state convention, which will be conducted online June 13.
