FISHERS, Ind. — Police say a registered behavioral therapist from Pendleton was arrested this week for molesting children including an infant.

An alert from the Hamilton County Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force based in Fishers sent out Thursday night said Alec Hegge, 31, faces two child molesting charges.

Fishers Police Department Lt. Doug Baker said because of Hegge’s work with autistic children, investigators think there could be more victims.

“We have no credible information that there are victims out there, however with his contact with children and of a vulnerable piece of society, we just want to make sure we take caution, that we reach out and have victims come to us and let us know,” Lt. Baker told WISH-TV.

Hegge had worked at Changing Lives Behavior Analysis Inc. in Anderson for at least two years.

In a news release put out Thursday night from the task force, they said “Hegge told investigators he never hurt a patient because there were too many safeguards in place. Hegge is no longer employed at the facility, and they are cooperating with the investigation.”

Hegge is being held at the Madison County jail in Anderson without bond. As of Thursday night, no formal charges had been filed against Hegge, although detectives suspect charges will come as the investigation continues.

Families who suspect their child was also a victim are asked to contact Greenfield Police Department Detective Chris Borgmann at 317-595-3467.
