Flood Watch Sunday and Monday with High Temps Returning

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Hoosiers should prepare for a wet start to the week, with a Flood Watch in effect for much of central Indiana as multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected. However, as the week progresses, a familiar summer pattern will return, bringing back higher temperatures and increased humidity.
Early Week: Rain and Flood Watch
A Flood Watch is in effect for central Indiana from Sunday afternoon through Monday evening. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely through Monday, with the potential for heavy rainfall. This could lead to flash flooding, especially in areas that have already seen significant rain in recent days. Residents should monitor forecasts closely and avoid driving through flooded roads – remember, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
Temperatures will be in the low to mid-80s on Monday and Tuesday, feeling cooler due to the persistent rain and cloud cover, though humidity will remain present.
Mid to Late Week: Drying Out, Heat and Humidity Return
As we move into the middle of the week, the rain chances will gradually decrease. By Wednesday, skies are expected to clear, and temperatures will begin to climb, reaching into the upper 80s.
The end of the week will see the full return of summer heat. Thursday and Friday are forecasted to bring highs into the low to mid-90s. Along with the rising temperatures, humidity will make a noticeable comeback, making conditions feel even warmer with heat indices potentially well into the 100s.
Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather alerts, especially for flooding early in the week and for potential hazardous heat conditions towards the weekend.
