MUNCIE, Indiana — Is your child a picky eater? A Ball State University professor has co-authored a comprehensive guide to help you expand their pallets.

It’s called “Broccoli Boot Camp: Basic Training for Parents of Selective Eaters,” written by Laura Seiverling, along with Keith Williams, a pediatrics professor at Penn State College of Medicine.

“A recent study showed one in five children never eat vegetables — except for potato products like fries and chip,” Seiverling said. She speicalizes in applied behavior analysis and pediatric feeding disorders.

Seiverling said they wrote the book to give parents a number of interventions that might work best for their children.

She said parents often give up after trying a new food only three times. The book recommends exposing your child to a food 10 to 15 times, to see the best results, as repeated taste exposure is key.

The book is chock-full of tips that will help children of all sorts, including those with special needs.

You can purchase “Broccoli Boot Camp” on Amazon or at your favorite book retailer.
