Woman Struck By SUV and Killed on Indy’s Southwest Side

INDIANAPOLIS–A woman was fatally struck by an SUV while walking on a street in Indianapolis Tuesday morning.
Police say the incident occurred on the city’s southwest side in an area that was poorly lit on Kentucky Avenue. The driver of the SUV, who showed no signs of impairment, is cooperating with investigators. That driver was also taken to a hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure in these cases.
The woman was taken to a hospital but later died from her injuries. She has since been identified as 42-year-old Pamlea Jean Shumaker.
