Car Used to Smash Into Indy Fireworks Store
INDIANAPOLIS — People driving a car crashed through the glass doors of a fireworks store on the east side early Tuesday, then broke in and ran off before police arrived, officials said.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded around 5:45 a.m. to a burglary near East 21st Street and Emerson Avenue, just south of I-70.
Security footage from the store owner, Aaron Sparks, shows a black car smashing into the back doors. The video also shows several people dressed in dark clothes grabbing fireworks inside the store. One of them even dropped a large bundle and tripped over it.
The people escaped before police got there and remain at large.
IMPD searched the area with drones and K-9 units for nearly two hours but hasn’t made any arrests.
