INDIANAPOLIS — Strong storms are expected to pop up across Indiana later today, bringing the chance for damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and possibly even a tornado.

Storms could start forming as early as 2 p.m. and move from west to east through the evening. Some areas could see wind gusts over 50 miles per hour, and downpours may lead to some street flooding.

It’ll be hot and sticky, with afternoon highs in the mid-80s and humidity making it feel even warmer—closer to 90.

Storms will calm down overnight, but scattered rain and rumbles of thunder could stick around into early Thursday.

Looking ahead, the heat is coming. A wave of hot air will build over the weekend, pushing temperatures into the 90s by Saturday and Sunday.

With the humidity, it could feel like 100 degrees or more. Heat advisories might be needed early next week.
