The WNBA has announced they are closing the investigation into alleged racist comments being directed at Angel Reese during a Fever-Sky game.

The WNBA has determined that the reports of racist fan behavior towards Chicago Sky player Angel Reese during a game in Indiana were “not substantiated.”

The investigation started after the Fever-Sky game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse May 18th. The report of alleged racist comments made towards Angel Reese was told to the local and national press. While the source of the allegations isn’t known, Reese commented early on that “there’s no place in this league” for discrimination and “obviously in the moment it’s hard to hear.”

The WNBA, alongside the Fever, took the reports seriously and ensured the league would look into the claim of hostile fans. Caitlin Clark, among many others in the league denounced the reported hateful comments when asked about the investigation.

Tuesday, WNBA said everyone was very cooperative and they did not find any evidence of hateful speech during the game. The Indiana Fever stated they are appreciative of the WNBA for looking into the matter and glad to move forward.
