We Are Fighting Sanctuary Cities
We are fighting sanctuary cities. Indianapolis would be a sanctuary city if Indiana state law didn’t forbid it.
We are fighting sanctuary cities. And I first read this, it was Bill Melugin with an exclusive:
So, what in the world is that? It involves something called Operation Guardian Angel. And it comes from the US Attorney for the District of California. It’s a task force. And what they’ve done is they scan criminal databases every day to identify arrested illegal aliens and local jurisdictions. And then the DOJ charges them with felony illegal reentry. So, what they’re saying is, is that these locals have made it impossible for ICE to do their job. So, what they’re doing now is saying the locals can ignore a detainer all they want. You know, I say, “Hey, that person’s illegal, hold on to them, we’re going to come get them” and local municipalities could say we’re not going to do that. “We’re not going to cooperate with you.” And that’s how they allow illegal immigrants just to be released. These awful, terrible sanctuary cities, these gross policies. You understand that if Indiana didn’t have laws about this thing, Indianapolis would absolutely be a sanctuary city. Ryan Mears would be letting people go like it was his job. As a matter of fact, I wonder if he thinks that’s his job now, the Marion County prosecutor. So what’s happening is these these locals can ignore the detainer, but they cannot ignore a criminal arrest warrant. So they take a look at people getting booked. If they’re in the country illegally, they review the file. If they meet the elements of illegal reentry, a federal crime, they file the complaint and get the arrest warrant issued before they’re released from state custody and now the locals have to actually do something. We still haven’t gotten the answer from Indianapolis “If asked to participate with federal law enforcement in the arrest of illegal immigrants, will the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department work with those federal officials to in those operations to make those arrests of people here illegally? Yes or no? When we asked the question the last time. Well, when the question was asked last time, it was a much more general answer. We haven’t been asked. Well, now I’m asking if you’re asked, you’ve got Mike Braun, the governor who has signed an executive order. If asked, will you do it? And IMPD, sorry, Chief Bailey… please understand you never answered the question. Your team didn’t answer the question. And yeah, it’s insulting. It’s insulting to everybody who lives here that you won’t answer that question… Will you assist yes or no if asked? Simple question. This is a very interesting way to go about these things. It’s nice to see the Trump team looking at ways of saying, well, not saying, well, I guess we just have to deal with it. What else can we do
