Who’s Next For The Pacers? Who does JMV want to see face the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals?

The Pacers winning in five games. They beat the Cavaliers yesterday, 114 to 105, um… this team is this good?

The team, exactly what you said and yes, they are good. This is their window, championship window. You can see it kind of evolving right before our eyes. I just thought that that was a testimonial in that series in Cleveland, the 64-win team and the regular season second best. The NBA best team in the East, the way that they handle them both with and without perfect personnel and three games that they win on the road, yeah, they are a legitimate championship threat. And it’s nice, I’m sure, for Pacer fans to hear that.

Tony Katz:

Who do you want them going up against? Would you rather the Celtics right the way New York has a three to one game lead? Would you rather the Celtics or would you rather the Knicks?

JMV:

Hey Tony, I don’t think it matters because the Pacers play a style that really nobody else plays in the NBA. Up and down the floor are wearing you outside the style they play a physical nature of. Basketball, it’s not like the ’94 Knicks. It’s not that physical brand of basketball. They wear you out. There’s a reason why so many opposing players get injured over the course of a series with the Pacers, because they play up tempo and they wear you down on both ends. So, I don’t really think it matters. The Knicks are really good. There’s no doubt about it, the Celtics without Jason Tatum is a big deal. But no matter what, I think the Pacer fans would probably want to stir the echoes of those great Knicks-Pacer series of the past and wouldn’t mind seeing the Knicks and Pacers and Racers coming up here on the rest of the month of May.
