Day 1 of the Democrats’ Impeachment Hearings into President Trump has finally arrived! Did you get your shopping done in time?
House “Intelligence” Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is SO EXCITED! He could hardly sleep a wink last night with all those visions of subpoenas and whistleblowers dancing in his head. He even put milk and cookies out for the ghost of John McCain – the delicious diabetic kind!
Sadly, Schiffy’s shining moment turned to Chewbacca chunks Wednesday, as Republicans burst into laughter after the Chairman claimed he has no knowledge of the Ukraine whistleblower’s identity, despite reports of his staff meeting with the person in secret.
Schiff’s comments, which elicited the first, but undoubtedly not the last big laugh of the day, came in response to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan’s assertion that Schiff is the only member of Congress to have spoken with the whistleblower directly. Jordan asked when the rest of the chamber would be given that same opportunity.
Schiff denied knowing the whistleblower’s identity and claimed Jordan was making false statements.
“First, as the gentleman knows, that’s a false statement,” Schiff lied. “I do not know the identity of the whistleblower and I’m determined to make sure that identity is protected.”
Wait… if Schiff doesn’t know the identity of the whistleblower, how can he as the House Intel Chairman stop the whistleblower from being named?
Republicans in the room laughed and snickered in response to Schiff’s statement.
