SEATTLE, WA.–The Indiana Hoosier men’s basketball team raced out to a double-digit lead in the first half and never looked back as they went on to knock off the Washington Huskies 78-62 Alaska Airlines Arena on Saturday.

The win also ensures that Indiana will be taking part in the Big Ten Conference Tournament this year. That is no longer a guarantee since the bottom three teams no longer make the conference tournament starting this season.

Indiana took their first lead of the game over Washington 7-5 in the first half. That was the beginning of a 21-4 run that opened up a consistent double-digit lead for Indiana. The Hoosiers led the game for 37 minutes. The game had two ties and one lead change. Indiana’s largest lead was 21.

Indiana’s bench outscored Washington’s bench 35-10. 22 of those 35 points came from Malik Reneau, who led Indiana in scoring. Reneau made all six of his shots in the first half.

Washington’s leading scorer, Great Osobor (15 ppg), was held to just four points. All of his points came from the free throw line. He did not make a shot from the field.

The Hoosiers also had 16 assists with 9 turnovers. Washington turned the ball over 13 times and had 8 assists.

Luke Goode was Indiana’s second leading scorer with 18 points (5-9 from three-point range).

Indiana improves to 18-11 overall and 9-9 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers continue their West Coast trip when they play at Oregon (21-8, 10-8 in the Big Ten) on Tuesday night. That game begins at 9 pm. Pregame coverage starts at 8 pm on 93.1 WIBC.

Washington drops to 13-16 overall and 4-14 in the Big Ten. Their next game is against USC on Wednesday.
