LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — Lafayette police are warning drivers about the dangers of road rage after two separate incidents of gunfire erupted over the weekend. Both confrontations occurred on busy city streets. No injuries were reported.

The Lafayette Police Department says the first shooting happened Feb. 15 around 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Sagamore Parkway North and Greenbush Street.

Police said they arrested 28-year-old Tayloir Halderson for shooting at another vehicle.

Just one mile away and a day later at 2:51 p.m., another road rage incident turned into a shooting at Sagamore Parkway North and Schuyler Avenue. Police arrested 20-year-old Tristen Clements for the shooting at another vehicle.

Both men face multiple charges, including:

  • Attempted aggravated battery.
  • Intimidation with a deadly weapon.
  • Pointing a firearm.
  • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Additionally, Halderson faces a charge of false informing.

Instead of taking matters into your own hands, officers encourage drivers to report aggressive behavior to authorities.
