Plainfield Is Getting 200 New Jobs, Carvana Operations Are Expanding

Carvana, the online used-car retailer known for its sleek vehicle vending machines, is ramping up operations in Plainfield, Indiana.

The company announced the addition of inspection and reconditioning services at its existing ADESA wholesale auction site, marking a significant step in creating what it calls a “Megasite.”

This move is set to bring 200 new jobs to the area, offering a mix of entry-level positions and skilled technician roles.

The Plainfield site, originally part of Carvana’s 2022 acquisition of ADESA’s nationwide auto auction business, spans 100 acres and boasts nearly 12,000 parking spaces.

With the integration of inspection and reconditioning capabilities, Carvana aims to boost its production capacity and enhance offerings for both retail and wholesale customers.

Local buyers can expect greater vehicle inventory and potentially same-day delivery, while wholesale clients will benefit from on-site reconditioning services paired with robust auction operations.

According to Carvana officials, this expansion represents pure growth for the Indianapolis market.

It complements the company’s Greenfield reconditioning center, while also meeting increasing customer demand.

“The Indianapolis area has been home to ADESA’s headquarters for over 30 years,” said Mike Caggiano, ADESA’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “We’re excited to deepen our operational presence and create meaningful employment opportunities within the community.”

The expansion is great news for Plainfield, located just 15 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

It reflects Carvana’s confidence in the local workforce and further solidifies their commitment to enhancing automotive services in the region.

With the hiring process already underway, Carvana’s move not only bolsters its reconditioning capacity but also cements Indianapolis as a key hub for its innovative “Megasite” operations.
