Muncie Woman Faces Charges in Fatal Setup

MUNCIE, Ind. — Shannon Miller, who initially called 911 after finding 42-year-old Ronald Wright Jr. dead in Morningside Park, is now facing charges related to his death.
Miller told police she stumbled upon Wright, who had been stabbed, and blamed her ex-boyfriend for the crime. However, investigators quickly uncovered messages on her phone linking her to the setup.
According to court documents, Miller’s ex-boyfriend told police he met Miller to get high in an abandoned garage near the park. Shortly after Miller arrived, Wright appeared, demanding meth at gunpoint.
Miller’s ex explained he didn’t have any drugs, but Wright didn’t believe him. He also claimed Miller had set him up by telling Wright he had drugs when he didn’t.
As Wright held a gun on him, the ex-boyfriend fought back, stabbing Wright in self-defense. The man said Wright had threatened to kill him if they didn’t find the drugs. Investigators found evidence of the setup, including messages between Miller and her ex, and determined the stabbing was an act of self-defense.
Miller was arrested on preliminary charges of felony murder and robbery, resulting in death. She remains in the Delaware County Jail, while no charges have been filed against her ex.
