IMPD: Man and Killed in West Indy, School Placed on Brief Lockdown

INDIANAPOLIS–A person was shot and killed on the west side of Indianapolis on Friday afternoon just before 1 pm.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the incident and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. It happened in a residential area near W. 34th Street and Georgetown Road

The victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but later died.

Nearby Carl Wilde School 79 was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but the lockdown has since been lifted.

Police are investigating.
