INDIANAPOLIS — An unborn baby has died after its mother was shot Sunday evening, and a man has been charged with attempted murder.

Officers say they found the injured woman at a home on Pleasant Run Parkway Drive around 6 p.m. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, but her unborn child did not make it.

Thankfully, IMPD believes they know who was responsible for the shooting: the woman’s estranged husband.

They soon found 36-year-old Jeremy McBride in his car on East Raymond Street and arrested him. He apparently told police that he had intended to kill the woman, the unborn child, and himself.

He was initially charged with attempted murder, though other charges could still be filed. Following the incident, IMPD Deputy Chief Kendale Adams said, “This is truly a tragic incident, and I extend my sincerest condolences to all of those affected.”
