Goode’s Career High Helps Hoosiers Hold On, Knock Off Buckeyes in Overtime

COLUMBUS, OH.–The Indiana Hoosier men’s basketball snapped a two-game losing streak and beat Ohio State Friday night 77-76 in overtime.
After shooting only 33% in the first half, the Hoosiers shot 56% in the second half and took a 10-point lead with just over five minutes to play only to see Ohio State storm back to tie the game at 71-71 to force the overtime.
Bruce Thornton converted a three-point play to put Ohio State up by two, but Luke Goode nailed a three-point shot with 1:07 left. John Mobley Jr’s shot was blocked by Indiana’s Anthony Leal and Thornton misfired on a three as time expired.
Goode had a career high 23 points and converted four three-pointers. Oumar Ballo also had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Hoosiers. Kanaan Carlyle came off the bench to score 13 points for Indiana.
Mobley led Ohio State with 21 points.
Indiana improves to 14-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten. Their next game is January 22 against Northwestern at 7 pm. Pregame coverage starts at 6 pm on 93.1 WIBC. Ohio State drops to 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers and Buckeyes play each other again in the regular season finale on March 8.
