Snow event on Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS — Forecasters say light snow is expected Tuesday morning, with about an inch likely to fall during the morning commute.

“Any roads that aren’t treated will see accumulation,” said Aaron Updike of the National Weather Service. “Major highways and interstates, where roads are treated, may not see as much accumulation.”

Wind speeds aren’t expected to be strong on Tuesday, but temperatures will drop into the single digits, which could be dangerous if you’re exposed for too long.

“We’re looking at sustained winds around 10-15 mph, with gusts near 20 mph. It’ll be a little breezy with some drifting snow, but with only half an inch to an inch of snow, we shouldn’t see too much of an issue,” Updike said.

Forecasters are also watching a Friday system that could bring precipitation, though they’re unsure what type. The system will stay through Saturday.

“There’s potential for it to remain all rain, so we could see a little bit of a warm-up late this week before we cool down again,” Updike added.
