FRANCISCO, Ind. — Authorities say two people were found dead in a house fire early Tuesday morning in Gibson County, and investigators have ruled the deaths intentional.
The fire was reported around 6:30 a.m. at a home on East State Road 64 near Francisco. Responders discovered two separate fires in the house. One body was found during an initial search, and firefighters later located a second victim.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and Gibson County investigators are treating the case as a double homicide. Evidence suggests the fire was deliberately set, officials said.
Police are searching for Michael R. Kegg, 53, a resident of the home. He is considered a person of interest and may be driving a blue 2017 Mazda or a white Ford pickup. Authorities have advised the public not to approach him and to contact law enforcement immediately.
The victims’ identities are being withheld pending autopsies.
