INDIANAPOLIS — If you haven’t noticed, winter arrived over a week ago. But, it certainly hasn’t felt like it with rain and highs in the mid-50s.
That will change soon as temperatures will begin cooling off by late Wednesday. After that, the National Weather Service says you can expect some light snow to fall on much of the state by late Thursday and into Friday.
“There could be a period of light snow,” said Alexander McGinnis with the National Weather Service. “It will likely be a thin coating, but after that, there will be colder conditions heading into the weekend.”
Temperatures will move below normal by the beginning of next week, and that is when forecasters say a larger winter storm may move into the state. They are still working on a timeline and how intense the winter storm may be.
“Early indications are we are going to have a lot of cold air in place,” McGinnis said. “We are expecting colder than normal temperatures well into January and this could be in conjunction with that winter storm as well.”
