Snow Coming Up

STATEWIDE–Snow is likely to fall in Indiana both Thursday and Friday with heavier amounts expected in the northern part of the state. That means it could impact Friday night’s College Football Playoff game between Indiana and Notre Dame.

“There could be some lingering lake effect snow that may impact that area. They could get over an inch,” said Randy Bowers, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Bowers doesn’t expect heavy accumulations in central Indiana where he expects less than an inch. Places in the northern part of the state could receive more than that. He urges you to watch out for snow when you’re driving.

“Just slow down and give yourself more time to reach your destination. The travel trouble could be more likely in northern Indiana,” said Bowers.

Little to no snow is projected for the southern part of Indiana. The wind could be a factor.

“But the wind wouldn’t be quite to the level that we would consider dangerous wind chill values, we still think it will be cold enough to be uncomfortable,” said Bowers.

As we look ahead to Christmas, Bowers says you can expect a warming trend with rain possibly Christmas day.

“It doesn’t look like we’ll have snow on Christmas. It also looks like we’re going to have above normal temperatures as opposed to below normal temperatures,” said Bowers.
