Every once in a while, someone will go above and beyond the call to ‘awesomeness.’ Hammer’s Heroes is a place where we celebrate the beautifully weird, hilariously dumb, or just incredibly wholesome moments human’s go viral for.

The newest inductee into Hammer’s Heroes is Interim head coach Darren Rizzi of the New Orleans Saints. Is his honor in relation to a miraculous play? Or maybe a patriotic locker room speech? Well, it wouldn’t be Hammer’s “Hall of Fame” if it was.

Rizzi celebrated his first win with the Saints on Sunday. He told reporters after the game that he’s a “pretty open guy” and doesn’t shy away from honesty (even when no one asked.) Rizzi then goes into a genuine story about how he clogged the locker room toilet just that morning.

“This is how my day started. I get down to the Superdome. I go in the head coach’s locker room, which I’ve never used before. So here I am, early in the morning, I go to the bathroom. This is how my day started. I clogged the toilet. I’m like, ‘This is gonna be a crappy day.’ Pun intended!”

“I’m like, ‘Okay, this is not really a great start to the day. Here we go.’ And so, not really feeling like the head coach of an NFL team right now. I’m like, ‘Really? This is really how we’re gonna start my day?’”

Rizzi’s killer voice, storytelling skills, his relatability, and the added toilet pun are all reasons why this coach will live on in the hall of Hammer’s Heroes!
