STATEWIDE--Some portions of northwest and northern Indiana got rain on Tuesday, but drought conditions still persist.

The U.S. Drought Monitor shows much of the state either in moderate or severe drought.

“Places like Lafayette and Kokomo got a few rain showers and even a rumble of thunder. The precipitation really wasn’t very much,” said Jason Puma, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

He says the next best chance for rain is on Friday for much of the state.

“It will move in as many folks are just waking up Friday morning. Now rainfall amounts with this system will be about a quarter of an inch or less, but we could see a little bit of measurable rain as the front moves across the area,” said Puma.

Nothing severe is expected at this time and the wind isn’t supposed to be very gusty.

Temperatures will be vary between being in the 60s and 70s over the course of the next week.
