ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. — A teenager is likely going to spend the majority of his life in prison, after he was found guilty of a 2021 murder Friday.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office says the now-19-year-old Quadir Quiroz killed Ashanti Hines that October. Hines was shot while inside a car, but officers do not believe she was the intended victim.

With this conviction, Quiroz could go to prison for 45-65 years, with additional time for a felony firearm enhancement. He will be sentenced October 4th and is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.

The Prosecutor’s Office says its staff “extend our deepest condolences to the family of Miss Hines.”
