INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis police officer shot one week ago is back on his feet and has left the hospital.

Officer Steven Rzyski was shot last Friday night on the far east side of Indianapolis while responding to a shots fired call. Police believe someone randomly fired shots, one of which hit Officer Rzyski. Indianapolis Metro Police detained two people nearby later that night on an unrelated case, but detectives are still looking into whether or not those individuals are connected to the shooting of Officer Rzyski.

Officer Rzyski was surrounded by his fellow officers as he left the hospital Thursday. His family was also in attendance. Watch video below:

“So incredibly grateful that Officer Rzyski is walking out of the hospital on his own, surrounded by his sisters and brothers! A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who took great care of our cop!” said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey on Twitter.

If you know anything about last Friday night’s shooting, give IMPD or Crime Stoppers a call.
