Purple Line Construction Starts Today For Bus System NO ONE Wants
The second IndyGo express bus line, the Purple Line, is officially underway. The massive infrastructure project begins construction Monday, April 4th.
The Purple Line is set to link downtown Indy to the City of Lawrence with stops at IU Health, the State Fairgrounds, Children Museum, and more. The 15 mile route will run along 38th Street.
The new bus system will also include sidewalk construction, new crosswalks, added bike lanes, and new curb ramps and traffic signals.
Tony Katz has been vocal about how the city is continuing to use 20th century solutions for a 21st century problem. He believes these express bus lines, just like the IndyGo Red Line, will and has destroyed businesses and made the city even less accessible to Hoosiers.
“We are a city that learns nothing. We are a city that wants pain. We are a city that refuses to do better.”
The Purple Line officially broke ground at the end of February 2022.
