SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A manhunt is underway for the suspects involved in a deadly shooting in downtown Sacramento early Sunday morning in one of the worst mass shootings Northern California has ever seen.

“Eighteen people were hit by gunfire,” said Police Chief Kathy Lester. “Six have died. They were all adults. Three men and three women.”

Lester says the chaos started out as a large fight shortly after bars and clubs in the area had closed.  Police cameras in the area captured parts of the incident and members of the public are being asked to keep sending in videos, pictures, and other tips.

President Biden is pressing Congress to pass gun control legislation following Sunday’s mass shooting.

Biden said in a statement Sunday night, “We must do more than mourn; we must act.”

Biden called on Congress to require background checks for gun sales and to ban assault-style weapons, high-capacity magazines, and so-called ghost guns which are untraceable.
