**STORY FROM WISH-TV**

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A woman has filed a police report saying that Nick Roberts, a Democrat on the Indianapolis City-County Council, held her against her will and groped her during a second date in Fishers. Roberts vehemently denies the accusations.

The 18-year-old woman said she repeatedly tried to push Roberts away and told him to stop, but his grip tightened. She believes he only released her when someone walked by on the main trail. She described the experience as traumatic and felt uncomfortable after their first date’s interaction.

Councilor Roberts, 24, who was elected in 2023, confirmed going on two dates with the woman but denied her claims. Fishers Police Department Major Mike Janes confirmed that an incident involving Roberts was reported on July 12. Janes declined to provide further specifics, citing an ongoing investigation. Roberts has not been charged with a crime.

The allegations against Roberts surface just weeks similar accusations of physical and sexual assault against another eastside Democrat on the council, Keith Graves, who subsequently stepped down as chair of the Education Committee.

This news also comes as Democrats on the council are considering significant changes to the city’s human resources policies, spurred by Mayor Joe Hogsett’s handling of harassment claims against his former top aide.

Roberts also serves as the Director of Community Relations for the Lawrence Township Trustee’s Office and does freelance data analytics. The woman stated her reason for coming forward is to warn others and ensure similar incidents do not happen again.
