IU Health Announces $214 Million Investment for Greater Lafayette Area

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana University Health has plans to grow their footprint in West Lafayette.
The IU Health Board of Directors recently approved a $214 million investment plan in the Greater Lafayette Community Growth Project. It includes building West Lafayette’s very first hospital within city limits and a cancer center in Lafayette.
The new state-of-the-art cancer center will be 55,000 square feet, located on the Arnett Hospital campus in Lafayette. The project also includes plans for renovating the IU Health Medical Offices in West Lafayette.
“IU Health has brought many firsts to Tippecanoe County: the first multi-specialty clinic, the first cardiology and pediatric departments and the first urgent care,” said IU Health president and chief executive officer Dennis Murphy. Now, we’re preparing to bring another milestone—the first hospital in West Lafayette.”
IU Health said the West Lafayette hospital will offer a 24/7 emergency department with inpatient care and multiple operating rooms. It will also include a helipad for emergency transportation and laboratory services.
The new facilities will create over 210 new full-time healthcare jobs by the end of the decade. Construction is set to begin in 2026. The hospital and cancer center is expected to open in 2028.
