WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) called out former Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley for his prediction from earlier this year of a collapse of social security.

During a meeting on Capitol Hill with current Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano, Rep. Yakym brought up O’Malley’s claim from a few months ago that Social Security would fall within 30 to 90 days, calling it fearmongering by the former Biden appointee.

O’Malley’s statement was as read by Yakym this week during the meeting in D.C.: “Ultimately, you are going to see the system collapse and the interruption of benefits.”

Yakym pointed out that it has now been at least 116 days since that prediction. Commissioner Bisignano confirmed that Social Security is still standing strong.

“That was really not very nice or accurate,” said Bisignano. “This system will no collapse, I guarantee that.”

Rep. Yakym then asked about the benefits.

“What about benefits, have the benefits been interrupted,” Yakym asked.

“Not once,” Bisignano replied.

Rep. Yakym called the claims by Biden officials that Republicans would destroy Social Security “downright reckless.”

“While Democrats waste time fearmongering, Republicans like me are focused on real solutions,” Rep. Yakym added. “Americans deserve the truth, not scare tactics from partisan bureaucrats trying to cover for their own failures. We are working with Commissioner Bisignano to protect and strengthen Social Security and to clean up the mess left behind over the last four years.
