Indianapolis is set to welcome a groundbreaking addition to its sports bar scene: The Sports Bra, the nation’s first bar dedicated exclusively to women’s sports, is expanding from its Portland, Oregon roots to the Circle City.

Founded by former basketball player and chef Jenny Nguyen in 2022, The Sports Bra emerged from a simple yet powerful idea: create a space where women’s sports take center stage.

Frustrated by the lack of visibility for female athletes in traditional sports bars, Nguyen envisioned a venue where fans could gather to watch women’s games without having to request a channel change.

The concept resonated, leading to a successful Kickstarter campaign and the establishment of the flagship location in Portland.

The decision to expand to Indianapolis is timely. With the rise of stars like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, and the growing popularity of the Indiana Fever, the city’s enthusiasm for women’s basketball is palpable. Nguyen noted, “Indianapolis has always had a huge basketball fandom. It’s homegrown, it’s in the water.” (wrtv.com)

The Sports Bra’s Indianapolis location aims to be more than just a bar; it’s envisioned as a community hub for fans of women’s sports.

Patrons can expect a welcoming atmosphere, a menu featuring both classic and innovative dishes, and, of course, screens showcasing women’s athletic events across various sports.

Stay tuned for updates on the opening date and location details. Whether you’re a longtime supporter of women’s sports or new to the fandom, The Sports Bra promises to be a game-changer in Indianapolis’s sports and social scene.
