Woman Arrested In 2024 Death of Man at an Indianapolis Planet Fitness

INDIANAPOLIS–A woman was arrested for the overdose of a man whose body was found in a Planet Fitness tanning bed three days after he died in 2024.
On Monday, IMPD announced that 41-year-old Heather Bradford was arrested on Friday for the overdose death of 39-year-old Derek Sink.
Sink was found dead inside the Planet Fitness at 8707 Hardegan Street in November of 2024. That’s on the south side of Indianapolis. The Marion County Coroner ruled his cause of death to be a narcotics overdose.
On May 30, 2025, IMPD, State Police, and DEA officers found Bradford at a gas station in Mooresville. She was arrested there for dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, narcotics possession, and two active Morgan County warrants.
“These are extremely challenging and emotionally heavy investigations, but they are vital in our effort to combat the ongoing overdose epidemic. Each arrest represents months of work, cross-agency coordination, and a deep commitment to seeking justice for families who’ve lost loved ones,” said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey said in the Monday press release.
IMPD says as of May 2025, they have made five arrests for dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death (level 1 felony) and two arrests for reckless homicide related to fatal overdose investigations.
Bradford was arrested with the help of IMPD’s Overdose Drug Task Force, which was established in March 2024.
“This task force is a dedicated and collaborative unit that works diligently to combat the opioid crisis in Marion County by investigating fatal overdoses, holding offenders accountable, and striving to prevent future tragedies through awareness and deterrence. ODTF cases are made possible by collaboration with the IMPD, the DEA, the National Guard CDP, the U.S. Marshals Service and through cooperation with the Indiana State Police (ISP), Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO), and Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO),” said the news release.
