STATEWIDE — Are you ready for temperatures to warm up after they were below average for nearly two weeks?

Chad Swain is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. He says temperatures will warm up during the work week in Indiana.

“Monday will see temperatures in the 70s across the eastern part of the state, warming to the low 80s elsewhere,” Swain says. “By Tuesday, temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s across much of central Indiana and the state, with 80s continuing into Wednesday.”

Swain says Canadian wildfire smoke is also in Monday’s forecast, remaining high in the atmosphere.

“It might be a little thicker,” Swain says. “It might have more of a gray or brown color to the haze.”

Swain says if you are sensitive, especially to wildfire smoke, you might want to limit your time outside.

“The smoke will be around through Monday and then start to diminish as we head into Tuesday,” Swain says. “Right now, it looks like it should remain out of the area for the middle of the week.”

Swain says these conditions are becoming typical.

“For the last few years, it’s been happening multiple times a year, so it is just something that we have to keep an eye out for,” Swain says.

Swain says rain chances will increase during the middle of the work week in Indiana.

“Rain chances will begin Wednesday and continue through next weekend,” Swain says. “Right now, it looks like the best chance of rain will be around Thursday.”
