INDIANAPOLIS — A man was arrested after he was accused of exposing himself to an 11-year-old inside a church near the east side of Indianapolis.

Court documents say 71-year-old Carlos Bowen faces preliminary charges of:

  • Child Solicitation
  • Child Molesting
  • Criminal Confinement
  • Intimidation

According to court documents, Bowen was showing his private parts to an 11-year-old girl in a public restroom at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, which is on North Rural Street, near East North Street and North Eastern Avenue.

Court documents also say the girl’s mother told detectives that her daughter was not feeling well during a church service, so she just went to the restroom to get a tissue. That is when Bowen came out of a bathroom stall with his pants pulled down, hugged the girl, and asked her if he wanted to touch him.

The mom says she saw Bowen at the church before. After her daughter told her what happened, that’s when she went to her car and called the cops.

Bowen was in denial about the incident, and he told officers he was in the restroom by himself.

Officers took Bowen to jail, and his first court trial on July 28th at 8:30 a.m.
