INDIANAPOLIS — Concerns over Social Security, Medicaid, and federal budget cuts brought more than 100 Hoosiers to a Friday town hall with Rep. André Carson and House Minority Whip Katherine Clark.

The Democratic lawmakers said they’re using legislation, advocacy, and more than 200 lawsuits to challenge actions by former President Donald Trump’s administration and Congressional Republicans—especially staffing cuts and funding freezes by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Carson warned Trump’s tariff proposals could hurt Indiana’s economy and claimed Democratic opposition has already forced changes.

Clark emphasized the importance of outlining a clear plan ahead of the 2026 midterms, saying, “We’re not backing down.”
