INDIANAPOLIS — Rain and thunderstorms are expected across central Indiana Friday before cooler, drier weather settles in for the weekend.

Clouds will stick around most of the day with a chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Some areas could see moderate to heavy rainfall, with totals around a half inch. No severe weather is expected, but lightning and thunder are possible. Highs will reach the low to mid-70s.

Rain may continue into Friday night with mostly cloudy skies and lows falling into the upper 40s.

Saturday starts off cloudy before skies begin to clear later in the day. Winds could gust up to 20 mph, and highs will be cooler, only reaching the low to mid-60s.

Sunday brings a warmup with mostly sunny skies and highs near 70.

Looking ahead, Monday will be even warmer with highs in the low 80s. A cold front moves in Tuesday, bringing a chance for strong thunderstorms. Showers may linger into Wednesday as temperatures dip into the upper 60s and low 70s.
