Racer, Team Owner Shigeaki Hattori Killed in Traffic Accident
INDIANAPOLIS–Shigeaki Hattori, a Japanese-born driver who competed in the Indianapolis 500 and later became a NASCAR Craftsman Truck series championship team owner, has died at the age of 61 in a car accident.
Hattori made two starts at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, finishing 20th in 2002 and 30th in 2003.
He also had a successful career in IndyCar, NASCAR, and as a team owner, winning the 2018 NASCAR Craftsman Truck series championship with driver Brett Moffitt.
