INDIANAPOLIS –Severe storms hit Indiana Wednesday night, leaving a trail of damage and power outages in several counties.

A possible tornado touched down in Bartholomew County near Columbus just before 9 p.m., bringing down utility poles, trees, and power lines.

Wind gusts ripped sheet metal off a barn roof, and the National Weather Service reported more wind damage, including a barn roof torn off and a trailer blown over near Waymansville and Rosstown. The EMA warned people to stay off the roads due to fallen debris.

In Johnson County, strong winds tore part of the roof off the Franklin Skate Club, causing 75 people to huddle in restrooms for safety. A light pole fell on a car, but luckily, no one was hurt. Owner Jerry Williams planned to assess the damage the next morning.

Putnam County saw a possible weak tornado near Bainbridge that tore off a barn roof, and hail larger than an inch damaged siding in Greencastle. Hendricks and Boone counties weren’t spared either, with strong winds and hail, including reports of one-inch hail in Jamestown and winds up to 70 mph in Advance.
