PITTSBORO, Ind. — A suspended teacher and head football coach at Tri-West Hendricks High School has been arrested.

Tyler Bruce is charged with child seduction and obstruction of justice. The charges are the latest development in a long story in which Bruce has been at the center of accusations in which he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

“This case was brought to our attention in the form of an anonymous tip on 5/12/19,” said Henricks County Sheriff’s Dept. Capt. Amanda Goings in an email. “Since that time, we have been working alongside our partners at the Department of Child Services and the Northwest Hendricks School Corporation to determine the facts in the case.”

Goings said the facts are that Bruce became involved with a female student was in his math class and that she interacted with Bruce as a coach’s aide after school hours. She added Bruce asked the girl to use Snapchat to talk with him “after his wife went to bed” because that way “there would not be proof.”

In these Snapchat conversations, it’s said the girl sent naked pictures of herself to Bruce. He also asked her to work out with him alone after school, encouraging her “to take ice baths after sporting events.” He would stay while she took the baths and ask her to remove some of her clothes.

A complaint was filed in September, which said Bruce started harassing the girl. In the complaint, she detailed situations of “child seductions and abuse.” It also accused the district of failing to monitor Bruce and negligently retained him as an employee.

Bruce was booked into the Hendricks County Jail last night. He was released after posting his $500 bond.
