INDIANAPOLIS – IMPD released body camera footage Friday of an officer involved shooting on the east side from last October.

The shooting happened on October  14, 2024, around 2 in the morning.  According to IMPD, officer Roman Ervin-Williams responded to Bubbaz Bar and Grill because of a reported shooting. The bar is located just north of East Washington Street and North Mitthoefer Road.

Officer Williams was seen in the video entering in the bar. That’s where police claim the suspect had pointed a gun at him. According to IMPD, Ervin-Williams told the suspect to drop the weapon and when the man did not comply, Ervin-Williams shot him.

The officer did not activate his body worn camera until after the shooting. The footage was still captured, but there is a 30 second buffer that does not include audio.

The man who was shot managed to get to a hospital where he recovered from his injuries. He was arrested and charged, but later found not guilty on November 13th.

Video from the footage can be found here.
